Scott Air Force Base, home of the US Transportation Command, is located in southern Illinois, about 30 minutes outside of St. Louis. Located among many small towns in the Midwest, Scott AFB is a great place to base yourself in a community and enjoy a beautiful location. More than 35 units call Scott AFB home, including the Air Mobility Command and the 375th Air Mobility Wing, which has four divisions and 16 personnel.

There are several small towns nearby that provide quick and easy transportation to Scott AFB. They include Mascoutah, O'Fallon, Lebanon and Belleville. Housing at Scott AFB is managed by Hunt and has six neighborhoods with a total of 1,595 buildings. Historic homes, ranches and single family homes are available depending on family size and location. This is one installation that opens historic homes to military and police families. There are community playgrounds and a community center with space to rent for events.
There are no schools on the Scott AFB campus. Undergraduate students at Scott Elementary School, Mascoutah Middle School and Mascoutah High School; all three schools are academically well looked after. Nearby Belleville also has a school district and a high school with higher graduation rates than the state average.
